The Society’s Inaugural Scientific Meeting and Symposiums was a success, with almost all the participants being satisfied with the overall conference. Despite the short time period that the society had in preparing for the event, 178 participants registered for the Scientific Meeting. This exceeded our set target of 100. Registration had to be closed prior to the initial target closing date because of the limited seating capacity of the event venue.
In this public lecture, Professor Auerbach shared her insights on various aspects of community-based participatory research including the frameworks for collaborative research and her research in the HIV positive community. She also highlighted the importance of public engagement in translating science into social movements.
The public lecture was followed by a panel discussion by Dr Huso Yi and Mr Rayner Tan and was chaired by Dr Wong Chen Seong. The panel discussants shared their fieldwork experiences in both the local and overseas communities.
